Eleanor Davis Wolff Stratton, who resided at Meadow Ridge in Redding, Connecticut, died Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk, Connecticut.
Eleanor was born to Esther and Walter Davis in Northampton, Massachusetts on October 5, 1920. Raised on a farm in Hadley, Massachusetts, Eleanor studied nursing in Greenfield and Boston, and served as an Army nurse in Europe during World War II. In 1947 Eleanor married Dr. Hans Wolff, who she met in the Army in 1946 while both were stationed at Deshon General Hospital in Pennsylvania. They lived in New York City, where they raised their two sons, John and Paul.
As a devoted couple, Eleanor and Hans were committed to their family, good friends and the dignity of others. Dr. Wolff died from ALS in 1975. In 1976 Eleanor moved to Stamford, Conn. In 1980, she built and moved into a home on her father’s former property in Hadley, Massachusetts. Eleanor loved to travel and made her way to Peru, Europe, Israel and much of the United States.
