Ercel Mae (Crawford) Edwards, 95, of Manchester, beloved wife of over 50 years to the late James H. Edwards, died peacefully Wednesday July 15, 2015 at her home with her family at her side. She was born November 21, 1920 in Manchester, daughter of the late Robert & Eva (Hanna) Crawford and had been a lifelong resident. Ercel attended local schools and was a 1939 Graduate of South Manchester High School and for the last four years of her life she had resided at the Bennett Housing building which was originally the High School and she was very proud of that fact. She had been a bookkeeper throughout her working years and had worked for Pioneer Parachute and the law firm of Garrity, Walsh and Diana in Manchester. In retirement Ercel worked for the Chas. A. Boggini Soda Co. for many years and then retired again, in her 80’s as Office Manager. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff of the Visiting Nurse and Health Services for the wonderful care shown to her. She is survived by her son Bruce James Edwards and his wife Darlene of Newnan, GA., her daughter Carol-Anne Soucy of Manchester, her brother Robert Crawford of Enfield. Other survivors include numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son George Robert “Butch” Edwards, a great great grandson Christopher David Lewie and a brother Richard Crawford. Funeral services will be held Saturday July 18, 2015 at 7:00 PM at the Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main St., Manchester. Calling hours will be held Saturday from 5:30 PM until the time of the service.
