Walter J. Golec, 84, of Enfield, entered peacefully into eternal life on Monday July 13, 2015. He was the beloved husband of the late Ismerinka (Mandzak) Golec. Walter was born on Aug. 27, 1930 in Putnam, CT, son of the late John and Sophie (Gowac) Golec, he had resided in Enfield for the past 56 years. Walter served his country proudly with the U.S. Army and was a veteran of Korean War. Prior to his retirement in 1985, Walter was employed with the State of Connecticut for almost 25 years. He was a very active parishioner and trustee of St. Adalbert Church, a member of the John Maciolek Post 154 American Legion, Enfield, a former member of the First Governor’s Foot Guard, an avid golfer and member of Grassmere Country Club. Walter is survived by his children; Christopher Golec & his wife Monica of Newington, Janice Hobart & her husband Karl of Alexandria, VA, Patricia Pelletier & husband Joseph of Enfield, and Katherine Johnson & husband Bruce of Potomac Falls, VA. He is also survived by his six beloved grandchildren; Jenifer Jones-Barbato, Michael Pelletier, Kristina Pelletier, Taylor Johnson, Lauren Johnson, Mia Golec and his two cherished great grandchildren; Izabella & Benson Barbato. He is also survived by a sister Bridget Livernoche of Moosup, and two brothers John Golec of Suffield and Richard Golec of Burlington, NC, along with many nieces and nephews. Walter was also predeceased by three sisters Ann, Mary and Theresa and two brothers Joseph and Edward. Walter’s family will receive relatives and friends during calling hours on Wednesday July 15, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Browne Memorial Funeral Chapels, 43 Shaker Rd., Enfield. Funeral services will be held on Thursday July 16, 2015, with the funeral procession forming at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home to St. Adalbert Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Adalbert Cemetery.
