Maria Antonia (Tonita) Carrillo, 78, of Harford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 14, 2017. She was born May 11, 1939 in Cidra, Puerto Rico to the late Evaristo Santos Carrillo and Arcadia (Agosto) Carrillo.
Tonita came to the United States with her parents and infant son at the age of 20 years old, settling in Hartford, Connecticut, where she lived for many years. She was dedicated to her children and parents, and enjoyed making them laugh and smile. She was known for sharing old Puerto Rican saying and jokes. Tonita enjoyed shopping and took pride in keeping a beautiful home. She loved watching telenovelas with Angel.
She is survived by her life partner Angel M. Cruz as well as six of her children, Ray Rivera and his wife Evelyn of Windsor, Dalia Delgado and her husband Efrain of West Hartford, Marisa Vega and her husband Victor of Windsor, Angel Martinez and his fiancé Wanda of Hartford, Sonia DeClaybrook and her husband Louis of Hartford, and Ana Torres and her husband Luis of Hartford. Additionally, she is survived by her siblings Heriberto S. Carrillo and his wife Sonia of Hartford, Ana Rosa Perez and Pedro of Hartford, and was predeceased by her brother Angel Carrillo.
She also leaves 18 grandchildren, Jeanette Rivera Epps, Joanna Rivera Davis, Reinaldo Rivera, Ismael Santos, Efrain Delgado, Delilah Delgado, Raul Rodriguez, Melissa Johnson, Angel Martinez Jr., Daisy Martinez, Angelica Martinez, Kitana Martinez, Emily DeClaybrook, Elaine DeClaybrook, Elsie Adams, Louis DeClaybrook IV, Jessica Torres, and Jennica Torres. Along with 27 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, many nieces, nephews and other family members.
