William Fleno Jr.

William Fleno, Jr. 88, of Rocky Hill CT, formerly of Verona, NJ, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT. He was born on October 13, 1929 in Orange, NJ, the son of the late William Fleno and Anna (Christiano) Fleno. He was the husband of Phyllis Fleno for more than 61 years.
William graduated from Orange High School, attended Rutgers College and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Before retiring, William worked as an Assistant Comptroller for the city of East Orange, NJ. During his retirement years he travelled, enjoyed his daily walks and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will forever be remembered for his kind and unselfish disposition.
He was survived by his children, Phyllis Ann Fleno of Guilford, CT, and Christine Hennessey and her husband Scott of Madison, CT; and his beloved grandchildren Erin, Jack and Ryan Hennessey. He was predeceased by his brother Nicholas. William is also survived by brother-in laws and sister-in laws, Charles and Barbara Spina, Joseph Maglione, Louis Contaldi and Lucy Fleno and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday (August 28, 2018) at 10 AM in St Josephine Bakhita Parish at St James Church, 767 Elm St. Rocky Hill. Burial with military honors will be in the CT. State Veteran’s Cemetery, Middletown. Family and friends may call on Monday (August 27, 2018) from 4 to 7 PM at the Rose Hill Funeral Home 580 Elm St. Rocky Hill.
