Carmella Louise Viscio Rusate

Carmella V. Rusate, age 89, passed away on Aug.25,2018, surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of 68 years to Benjamin A. Rusate. Carmella was born in Schenectady, NY on January 27, 1929, daughter of the late Pasquale and Sadie Fertitta Viscio. Carmella and her family lived in Hamden for 30 years before moving to Cheshire for the last 30 years. Carmella graduated from Commercial High School in New Haven. She raised her family and then returned to work as an Administrative Assistant in the Office of the President at Quinnipiac College until her retirement in 1992. Carmella was creative and loved the arts, music and Broadway Plays. She and her husband loved to travel and took several wonderful trips. In addition to her husband, she leaves to cherish her memory, a son, David B. Rusate (Christy) of Naples, Florida, daughters, Denise Reynolds (Kevin) of North Haven, and Donna Romano of Cheshire. Her beloved grandchildren that brought her much joy, Nina Perry (Tyson) of TX, Brian Rusate of MA, Alex Rusate of NY, Angela Romano of MA, Carl Perry of Hamden, Joseph Reynolds of Hamden, Karina Kabbash of NY & Kaitlyn Kabbash of NY. Also, her loving great grandsons, Vincent Perry of TX and Carl Perry, Jr. of Northford. Carmella was the oldest of her siblings. She leaves behind, Richard (Rosemarie) Viscio of Cheshire, Donald (Carmel) Viscio of Danbury and Patricia Kapsinow of Guilford. A special thank you to cousin, Judy Kollias as well as the Staff at Skyview Center for their loving care over the past 18 months. She will be missed dearly by her many nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, Sept.1,2018 from 8:30 to 10:30am at Sisk Brothers 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00am at St. Thomas Becket Church,436 N. Brooksdale Rd.,Cheshire. Interment with follow at All Saints Cemetery in North Haven. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcome in honor of Carmella to the American Parkinson Disease Association, 135 Parkinson Ave. Staten Island, NY 10305.
