Lester (Leslie) Hicks, 89, of Hartford transitioned on August 29, 2018. He was born on August 18, 1929 to the late Essie and Mollie (Mainor) Hicks in Hartford. He was a graduate of Enfield High School and then served in the US Air Force. Lester was employed 54 years at the United States Postal Service and was a faithful, dedicated member and usher of The Mount Olive Ministries, where his mother was a founder. He was an avid bowler and bowled with TBA. He was a dedicated member of the American Legend. Lester was married to Bernice Kennedy Hicks. September 16 would have been their 68th wedding anniversary. He is survived by his beautiful wife, Bernice; daughters, Valerie McShan of GA, Shelley Johnson of GA, Lygia Faust of East Hartford, Beryl Hicks of Hartford, Holly Hicks-Kendrick of GA and Regina (Lonnie) Carr of GA, Son, Daryl Hicks of Hartford; 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren, brother Harris Hicks of GA, sister- in-law, Betty Kennedy of Hartford, Special Son-in-law George Johnson and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Lester was predeceased by brothers Rufus, Howard, Clarence, Frederick and two sisters, Jessie Kennedy and Marie Bourne.
