Paul Marci, 61 of Unionville, CT, beloved husband of 35 years to RoseAnn (Florkowski) Marci, passed away September 17, 2018. Paul, son of the late Joseph and Catherine (Civitello) Marci was born in Hartford, CT on October 18, 1956. His family moved to Unionville in 1962 and he dedicated his life to the town ever since. He graduated St. Paul High School in 1974 and began working in the auto body industry shortly thereafter with the last 12 years of his career at Edwards Motors of Unionville.
He is survived by his son Raymond Marci of Unionville, CT, sister Sharon Marci Fraher of Niantic, CT, his sister-in-law Cheri (Florkowski) Pelletier of Orlando, FL, his niece Dana Pelletier of Melbourne, FL, and many more beloved family members and friends who will all miss his sometimes wry, direct and sarcastic sense of humor. He was a gentleman, mentor and loyal friend to all he met.
Paul’s most admirable accomplishment was his service as a first responder, volunteering as a firefighter with Tunxis Hose Company No. 1, dedicating 38 years of his life to the Unionville community. He joined the department in 1980 and served as a Lieutenant, Captain, and Deputy Chief during his tenure, most recently holding the position of House Captain for the past 16 years. He also acquired numerous awards including Fire Fighter of the Year and Chief’s Award for his overall dedication to the company. He will truly be missed by his brothers and sisters of the company and the Unionville community.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Apple Rehab of Avon, CT for being so warm and welcoming and making his time there so comfortable. It really meant a lot to our family to know he was safe and well taken care of.
Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Sunday (Sept. 23) from 4:00-8:00pm. Funeral procession from The Ahern Funeral Home will be Monday (Sept. 24) at 9:15am followed by the Funeral Liturgy in the Church of St. Mary Star of the Sea, Unionville at 10:00am. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Avon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tunxis Hose Co. #1, P.O. Box 215, Unionville, CT 06085.
