Thomas Jackson

Thomas Jackson, 95, departed this life on Tuesday, September 25, 2018. He was born to the late John and Ella Lee Jackson in Philadelphia, PA on July 16, 1923. Prior to his retirement, Thomas was a tool grinder for Pratt & Whitney and he was also a carpenter, who helped to build his home church, Bethel AME in Bloomfield, CT. He was a God-fearing man who took great pleasure in reading his bible every day. He was a United States Army Veteran who served in World War II. A few of Mr. Jackson’s favorite things were baseball (he was a fan of the New York Yankees), coffee and hotdogs. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Thomas leaves to cherish his memory, sons, Eugene (Betty) Ellis of Bloomfield, CT and Joseph (Milagros) Jackson of Bristol, CT; brother, Horace Jackson; sisters, Thelma Harris and Beatrice Palmer; four grandchildren, Dr. Cheryl A. Ellis, Clarence Harold, Joseph Jackson, Jr. and Jarred Jackson; five great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his first wife, Margaret Ellis Jackson, who he was married to for over 55 years and Catherine Hodge-Jackson, his second wife. A celebration of his life will take place on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Bethel AME Church, 1154 Blue Hills Avenue, Bloomfield, CT at 11:00AM with a visitation from 10:00AM – 11:00AM. Interment will take place at the CT State Veteran’s Cemetery, 317 Bow Lane, Middletown, CT with Military Honors being rendered at the cemetery.
