Francesco “Frank” John Calitri, 95, of Farmington, beloved husband of the late Jennie K. Calitri, who he was married to for 67 years, passed away peacefully Friday, April 5th at his home. Born September 27th, 1923 in Panni Provence of Foggia, Italy, son of the late Giovanni and Graziella (Cacciordi) Calitri, he resided in Hartford and West Hartford before moving to Farmington. Frank was a decorated United States Army veteran of World War II where he served with the 29th Infantry landing on Omaha Beach in Normandy on D-Day. He received two Purple Heart medals and was extremely proud of his service to the United States Army.
Frank is survived by his five children, Edward Calitri and his wife Cynthia of West Hartford, Linda Callahan of Glastonbury, Nancy Moon of Manchester, Diane Calitri of Edgartown, MA, Marsha Nedorostek and her husband Gary of Canton, his grandchildren, Nicholas Calitri and his fiancé McGuire Kelly, Tyler and Samantha Calitri, Eric Callahan and his wife Brooke, Christopher Callahan and his wife Letty, Alyssa Callahan and her fiancé Anthony Pagliughi, Adam Moon and his wife Missy, Bryan Moon, Danielle Willett and her husband Neil Onsdorff, Brandon Willett, Kelly Nedorostek and her fiancé Michael Smith, Jack Nedorostek and Kate Nedorostek, her great-grandchildren, Grace, Benjamin, Emilia and William Callahan and Hannah and Brock Moon. He was predeceased by his siblings, Antoinette Cacchiotti, Mary Piergrossi and Bonifacio Calitri and his son-in-law William Callahan.
Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 180 Farmington Ave., Hartford on Saturday (Apr. 13) from 8:30 – 9:30am. Funeral procession from The Ahern Funeral Home will be at 9:30am followed by the Funeral Liturgy in St. Patrick- St. Anthony Church, 285 Church St., Hartford at 10:00am. Burial with full military honors will be in the family plot at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
